• plan an appropriate search strategy
• clearly define your topic
• identify the key concepts and relevant search terms for your topic
• combine and/or truncate search terms to enhance your search
• understand the difference between databases such as PsycINFO and search interfaces such as Sirius
• use PsycINFO effectively to search for relevant citations, by topic, author or title
• limit your PsycINFO search by language or publication year
• be aware of other available databases
